A blog of two halves

Despite (or maybe because of) the problems encountered in the latter part of the 20th Century, Fulham FC had some notable fans.

My first ever FA Cup tie was a 3rd Round match at Craven Cottage against Walsall, on Saturday 8 January 1949.

After the bore draw at Newcastle, Fulham treated us to a Christmas stocking full of excitement, with moments of real excellence.

In my report of the Leicester City match I commented:

Last Sunday’s match was decent enough but lacked the drama of Arsenal-Spurs or Liverpool-Everton.

After Fulham’s ignominious defeat by Huddersfield Slavisa Jokanovic had little chance of remaining as Head Coach.

A second tour, leading to the famous Craven Cottage ground, can begin in North End Road at St John’s Church.

Fulham made a promising – if unspectacular – start to their Premier League programme in August.

Saturday’s home match against Bournemouth brought more disappointment for Fulham supporters and showed that Slavisa Jokanovic is no nearer to finding the line-up that can cope with Premier League opposition.
