Song Academy

Song Academy is a children's songwriting club, designed for 6-11 year olds, providing a unique and exciting opportunity for children to write and record songs from scratch in collaboration with experienced professional musicians. Children's imaginations are unleashed to write creative and original lyrics add their own melody and experience how music is composed to create songs to share with friends and family. Through songwriting Song Academy ignites creativity, self expression and self belief. Led by the exceptional songwriter, Christina Clunies-Ross, Song Academy holds weekly sessions on MONDAYS and THURSDAYS in Brook Green, Hammersmith and runs holiday workshops. Children create their own lyrics, match these lyrics to their own melody and with the help of professional musicians (CRB checked) add their own music accompaniment. Many games are played to ignite creativity and build their musical knowledge. In addition, children receive singing and performance coaching. Perform in your own gig and create your own unique CD At the end of a term the children perform in their own gig with a live band of professional musicians and take home a compilation CD of all their songs ? an astounding achievement for any child regardless of what musical knowledge they started with. In addition, the nominations and winners of the SAFTA (Song Academy Fantastic Tune Awards) are announced. Making a difference to all children SONG ACADEMY operates on a social enterprise business model, offering places to children who would not otherwise be able to participate.
