The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in H&F

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. To honour her 70 years of service the country will observe various festivities throughout the year and an extended bank holiday in June. In H&F there will be plenty of ways to get involved in celebrating Her Majesty’s historic reign.

If your street isn’t organising its own party, or you simply can’t choose which invite to RSVP to, why not gather everyone together and join in at one of our Big Lunches which will be held in Ravenscourt Park and Bishops Park.

Tables will be given out on a first come first served basis, or you are free to bring your own picnic blankets or chairs. Bring your own food or buy something from one of our food stands, and enjoy the Jubilee in style.

Getting involved

Why not get involved? Below are some great ideas of events to put on within your communities, schools and businesses.

Getting involved... with your community

Street parties

Throwing a street party to celebrate national events is a tradition that stretches back hundreds of years. Get together with your neighbours with good food, games and music to celebrate this historic occasion – all you need to do is fill out one little form! For further information visit or street parties and events page.

The deadline for applying to hold a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee street party is Friday 6 May 2022.

We are expecting high levels of demand this year so please check with your neighbours that nobody else has submitted an application for your street before applying.

The Big Jubilee Lunch

The first Big Jubilee Lunch took place in 2012 to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and it’s back this year bigger and better! This year the Big Lunch will take place on Sunday 5 June and you can download your special free pack from the Eden Project Communities website.

The Queen’s Green Canopy

Get involved in the unique tree planting initiative sweeping the nation. With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC encourages planting a tree to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.

For further information on how you can get involved visit The Queen’s Green Canopy website.

Getting involved... with your school

Fancy Dress Day

This versatile idea is only restricted by your imagination! Whether you encourage students to wear red, white and blue, theme every year group after a different decade, or have your own Queen impersonation competition, why not ask for a small contribution and donate to one of the Queens chosen Jubilee charities?

The Big School Lunch

The official lunch might be happening over the bank holiday but that doesn’t mean your school can’t get involved. Why not host your own Big School Lunch on Friday 27 May – the day before summer half term starts?

Resources

A series of Platinum Jubilee resources have been created to support the SMSC curriculum and are great ways to teach students about the Queen, her faith, and her 70 years of service. Download them from The Platinum Jubilee website.

Getting involved... with your business

Shop window display

Are you a high street business looking to get involved with the Jubilee? We’d love to see your themed celebratory shop windows! Make sure to tag us on your socials with #JubileeHF. If you’re feeling a little competitive why not host a shop window showdown with other businesses on your street?

A Royal Pudding

Are you a cafe, restaurant or bakery in the area? Create a special dessert for the Jubilee and feature it on your menu for 2022.

Sponsorship

We’re on the lookout for sponsors to get involved with our large celebrations over the Jubilee weekend. If you’d like to discuss our different sponsorship packages and opportunities please get in touch with us at EventsTeam@lbhf.gov.uk
