Children's community nurses (CCNs)

CCNs provide nursing care to children and young people with acute or long-term complex needs in their home or community setting, such as a nursery or school.

The CCNs provide hands-on clinical care including:

  • blood tests
  • giving chemotherapy
  • passing nasogastric feeding tubes
  • giving intravenous antibiotics
  • monitoring oxygen

They also teach and support parents and other caregivers, such as extended family and school staff.
