A blog of two halves

After three successive victories some supporters and some pundits seemed to regard Fulham’s promotion as inevitable.

Back in the day, in a parallel universe, you’d get to Chelsea games an hour and a half before kick-off, just to get in. If it was Man U, Liverpool or Spurs, you’d allow two hours.

Last September, Fulham supporters felt reasonably confident that the club would survive in the Premier League.

If they awarded points for first-half nippiness, Chelsea would have had all three from last weekend’s ultimately frustrating draw with Leicester.

You can’t win anything with kids, said Alan Hansen, after Man United’s youngsters were beaten on opening day, 24 years ago.

For much of the close season it appeared that the club had lost the urge for multiple signings.

The merry-go-round sets off again this weekend.
