Shepherds Bush always enjoy their outings to Teddington, and they travel to Dora Jordan Road this Saturday (28 June) to face a TCC side which isn't yet firing on all cylinders. The match starts at 11am.
Bush have won their last three matches – most recently by a 66-run margin away to North Middlesex, picking up maximum points.
Confident Bush won the toss at Crouch End, and opted to bat first in the sunshine. However openers Luke Matthews and Ikjot Thind lasted just 21 balls between them, picking up a total of five runs before falling to the bowling of Will Vanderspar.
The scoreline of 10 for 2 proved to be only a blip as Fin Trenouth strode out to steady the ship. He and Nick Appleton each scored 39 before wicketkeeper Jacob Miltz made two good catches to displace them. Appleton managed five boundaries, while Trenouth's knock included two sixes.
Henry Blofield added 31 valuable runs towards the end, but Bush's total of 171 all out wasn't completely convincing.
For Middlesex, Ross Forrester was quickly out for 3, and it was soon 12 for 2 after Miltz was caught by Marcus Howard off Alisdair Easton's bowling for a duck. But Vanderspar was on form with the bat as well as the ball, scoring 41 before being caught by Trenouth. In the end North Mid folded for 105.
Blofield was the pick of the bowlers, mopping up the tail and ending with six wickets for 34 – an impressive achievement.
Bush 1st Xl are next at home at Bromyard Avenue on Saturday 5 July, at 11am, when they host Hornsey.
It's not that often that a match is tied, but Bush U15s, who fielded first against Perivale Phoenicians at the weekend after losing the toss, bagged one last weekend.
Perivale scored 130 for 6 in their 20 overs. Then Bush matched the feat, finishing on 130 for 9 by the last ball.
