The Four Heads Race

Sunday 5 November, 9am start, Furnivall Gardens

The Fours Head aspires to be the pre-eminent Head Race for “fours”, providing safe and fair racing for competent crews on the Championship Course.

The idea for a Tradesmen’s Tideway Head Race for fours, was first mooted in the early 1950s by the Thames Amateur Rowing Association and finally took place for the first time in 1955. In 1962 the event became known simply as “The Head of the River Fours”, and was handed over to a new committee in 1963 after the TRCA’s eventual amalgamation.

Over the years the race has grown from 34 crews to over 500 crews. Come on down to Furnivall Gardens fan zone to celebrate with other rowing enthusiasts.
