It may be hot outside – but wait until you’ve experienced Fulham’s annual Chilli Fest.
Billed as the best fun you can have while crying, the event takes place in the walled garden of Fulham Palace on Sunday 10 September, and it’s free to get in.
It runs from 11am to 3pm, and it features chillis of all varieties… including the hottest one in the world.
You can admire the chilli plants grown in local allotments and gardens, taste the different chilli flavours to make sure you can tell a jalapeno from a Scotch bonnet and – if you’re really feeling brave – compete in the chilli-eating challenge.
If the heat of the chillis doesn’t take your breath away, the sheer range of different chillis will. Varieties are graded on the Scoville scale, with the mildest Habanero coming in at around 200 units, while the Carolina Reaper is so extreme it’s rated at more than 2 million.
Then chill on the lawn with food and drink from local vendors while listening to the Latin beat of Banda Bomba, an eight-piece band who will add their own spice to the day.
No need to book, just turn up.
Chilli Fest takes place in the Fulham Palace walled garden, Bishops Avenue, SW6 6EA.
