The North End Road Christmas Market arrived back with a shake of sleigh bells!

From tinsel-covered booths to food vans decked in fairy lights and stall holders in Santa hats, there was plenty of festive fun in Fulham on Saturday (17 December).

“Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and joined us for the return of our annual North End Road Christmas Market,” said Cllr Ben Coleman, Deputy Leader of H&F.

“We started this in 2014 when we were first elected, and it was a great success until interrupted by Covid. It was fantastic to see so many people once again having a good time.”

Festive fun

The market included more than 150 stalls, selling everything from house plants to soft furnishings, alpaca wool scarfs and artwork.

There was also food from around the world on offer, including French cheese, paella, burritos, and even fish and chips.

Residents enjoyed free live music, with performances from the Steel Pan Trust, the Linking Hands Choir, St John’s Fulham Schola Cantorum, DJ Piper, Soul artist Kaiya Maxfield, and fan favourite PJ of Memphis Madness.

Santa made sure to pop by, along with a skating snowman, two incredibly tall soldiers and a pair of mischievous elves.

Tree-mendous offers

This year’s market was full of eco-friendly stalls. Visitors had the chance to make a traditional Christmas wreath with the Hammersmith Community Gardens Association, using dried fruit, evergreen branches, and pinecones.

Or for a more modern style, they could join H&F’s free workshops with Studio Hache and create a wreath made from left-over fabric scraps.

Council officers also handed out free trees to residents. The field maple saplings had been removed from Wormwood Scrubs to avoid overcrowding and would otherwise have been destroyed.
