Do you know an older resident who would like to attend our Big H&F Christmas Day Lunch?
Please nominate your relative, friend or neighbour who’s 60 or over and would otherwise be celebrating alone. We’re offering a two-course festive feast, and each guest will receive a gift bag and be provided with free transportation to and from the event.
“It’s fantastic that we are having Christmas lunch with our older residents in person once again,” said Cllr Ben Coleman, Deputy Leader of H&F.
“And I’m delighted to hear that those who took part in our Christmas lunch deliveries in 2021 are joining us for a proper celebration this year. There’s still space, so sign up your neighbours and friends to make their Christmas Day one to remember.”
Residents, or family and friends of residents, can apply for a free space via the online form up until Sunday 18 December, 10pm.
Coming back for seconds
Lifelong resident, Del Harding, 77, will be a returning guest this year. He lives in a Shepherds Bush sheltered housing complex for low-income older residents and has decided it’s too far to travel to see his son in Belfast this Christmas.
“The lunches are brilliant, they really look after you,” said Del.
“Last year the food was excellent, there’s nothing like a delicious Christmas dinner in good company. We’ve been through a lot with this pandemic, so it’s nice to get back to normal.”
Ringing endorsement
Del’s neighbour, John Davies, 72, also received a Christmas lunch package last year.
“It really brightened my day, it was excellent food, and I didn’t realise it was going to be that good to be honest,” he added.
“I’m looking forward to the Big H&F Christmas Day Lunch, it’ll be nice to get out and see people and have lunch at the hotel and including transport on the day is perfect.”
Canadian, Angus Goldie, 80, added that last year he really enjoyed the “special Christmas nosh”.
“It’s very nice to have this free Christmas dinner and going out for the lunch will be great fun.”
The Christmas Day celebration will be taking place at the Novotel London West hotel, Hammersmith, with volunteers and professional staff on hand to serve food and drink.
