Pearl Lemon Café is North End Road’s newest spot for coffee, tasty snacks and bubble tea in Fulham.

Set up by local residents Deepak Shukla, 35, and Axel Edouard, 27, the cosy café has just opened at 250 North End Road, opposite Sedlescombe Road.

The entrepreneurial pair chose to open in North End Road because of the street’s bustling, culturally diverse nature. “Being British Indian and my partner, Daniella, being Italian born and raised, means we really fit in with the cosmopolitan nature of North End Road,” said Deepak. “It’s perfect for us – we really feel at home.”

Axel, who will be running the coffee shop day-to-day is French Caribbean and his wife, Nora and her twin sister Habiba who both work at the café, are French Moroccan.

“North End Road feels super international, and we all love its vibrant energy and feel really at home,” he added. “I walked in here the other day, and everyone was speaking French, it was fantastic.”

Giving back

Pearl Lemon’s staff are keen to reflect the warm welcome they’ve received from their neighbours. “We’ve been really fortunate and have been widely welcomed by the locals,” Deepak said. “We want to be able to give back to this community and keep their hard-earned money in the road.”

SPECIAL OFFER: If you work in North End Road, you are eligible for a 10 per cent discount on any purchase from the cafe.

Regulars are also able to take advantage of the café’s generosity. Every tenth drink is free when using their loyalty stamp card.

Tasty treats

The café has only been open for two weeks, but already there are two clear customer favourites – their lattes or their melon bubble teas. Their coffees can also be made vegan friendly, with oat, almond, coconut and soy milks available.

Toasties and sandwiches are also available throughout the day – honey roast turkey and cheddar cheese, salt beef bagels and smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels. The team have big plans to offer vegan friendly food down the line and are hoping to soon be able to roast their own coffee beans for the café.
