Start for Life

Start for Life support is available through our family hubs, for you and your family. Support is available from pregnancy to birth, from 0 to 36 months.

Our Start for Life offer

  1. During pregnancy

    A health visitor will see you by 30 weeks to assess your health needs and to discuss your preparation for parenthood.

    Support during pregnancy.

  2. Birth to 3 months

    Within 14 days of the birth a health visitor will make a home visit. You will also be offered a visit by an early years volunteer, who will talk to you about local support services. You will also be offered another visit between 6 to 8 weeks. 

    Birth to 3 months.

  3. 3 to 12 months

    From 3 to 12 months you can contact a health visitor to ask questions and ask for support. They will also offer you an 8 to 12 month review. You can also attend one of our parenting programmes. 

    3 to 12 months

  4. 12 to 24 months

    You will be offered a session to explore the language and communication development of your child. You will also be offered a health and development check with a health visitor. 

    12 to 24 months

  5. 24 to 36 months

    You will be invited to a 2 year old health review at a family hub or children's centre. You may be offered follow up support if you need it. You can also access a free early learning place for your 2 year old. 

    24 to 36 months
