NHS dental treatments

Free NHS dental care – NHS website is available to:

  • children and young people under 18 or under 19 and in qualifying full-time education
  • women who are pregnant or have had a baby in the previous 12 months

Pregnant women and new mothers may have to show proof, such as:

  • maternity exemption certificate (MatEx)
  • a maternity certificate (MATB1)
  • your baby's birth certificate

Speak to your doctor or midwife about getting the proof you need.

NHS eye tests and optical vouchers

Free NHS eye tests and vouchers – NHS website to help towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses are available to:

  • children under 16
  • young people under 19 in full-time education

If you claim benefits

Free prescriptions, dental care and eye tests are available on the NHS if you or your partner (including civil partners) receive certain benefits. Your dependants, under the age of 20 will also be entitled.
