The Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham, Cllr PJ Murphy, has named the community-led Tech4Kids appeal as one of his official charities to support this year.
All the money raised will ensure that local children and young people in need get vital devices and data they require to catch up with their schoolwork.
This video features people speaking to camera from their office space about access to technology for the most disadvantaged in our borough.
The speakers to camera are intercut with footage showing children and young people using electronic devices in educational settings.
Speaker 1: Tech4Kids is a partnership that we've established between United in Hammersmith & Fulham, Hammersmith & Fulham Council and Ready Tech Go. Together, we'll ensure that some of the most disadvantaged in our borough can get the access to technology that they deserve.
Speaker 2: 1,500 children were identified across all of our schools in Hammersmith & Fulham as not having access to a device.
Speaker 3: We've been putting a lot of our learning online because of the pandemic, then suddenly we began to see that what was really happening is that children just didn't have the access.
Speaker 4: It does make things more difficult for them to learn effectively if you're looking at something on a very small screen.
Speaker 5 (Cllr PJ Murphy, Mayor of H&F): If people don't have technology, they've lost outright from the get go. So it's really important that everybody has access to technology. Hence Tech4Kids.
