Olympia planning applications

The council has received two planning applications for the redevelopment of Olympia Exhibition Centre. A detailed application for the existing site and an outline application for land to the east along Olympia Way bordering the rail line. The applications have been submitted by Olympus Property Holding Limited (‘the applicant’) and were registered as valid on 11 October 2018.
Update
The council has extended the usual statutory period for consultation on this planning application to Monday 3rd December 2018. This is to provide more time for residents to consider the proposals in detail and give their views. If you’re unable to submit your comments by this time please discuss this with planning case officer on 020 8753 6520.

Summary
The applicant’s proposal would see the existing Exhibition Centre site redeveloped to create an arts, cultural and entertainment hub alongside the existing exhibition space providing a theatre, boutique cinema and live music and events venue, along with two new hotels, restaurants, offices and conference spaces.
The proposed works would include the restoration of the two main historic listed Exhibition Hall facades at the site - Grand Hall and National Hall - and Pillar Hall, which is also listed. Grand and National Halls would continue to accommodate exhibitions. A new boutique hotel would be built in an extension above National Hall. The restored Pillar Hall is proposed to accommodate a restaurant, jazz club and basement speak-easy. The multi-storey car park building near the station would be retained, extended and altered internally to accommodate a new hotel and conference/office space, with a basement boutique cinema.
Central Hall on Hammersmith Road is proposed to be demolished behind its façade, which would be retained, to provide a new building above accommodating new office, conference and exhibition space. West Hall would be extended, with a live music and events venue located in two new floors above the two existing exhibition storeys. G-Gate on Hammersmith Road on the south west part of the site at the junction with North End Road, will provide a new building housing a theatre and two restaurants, together with exhibition space. A new site logistics centre would be created at ground and basement levels under Central Hall and G-Gate, removing exhibition and other servicing and delivery traffic from the streets surrounding the Exhibition Centre.
New areas of landscaped public realm would be created by the development, including a new raised walkway with a glazed canopy between the two existing domed exhibition hall roofs, leading through the middle of the site to a new public square. New shops, cafes and restaurants would be located along the new elevated walkway.
Olympia Way is proposed to be pedestrianised with the outline application seeking permission for new buildings along Olympia Way accommodating shops, cafes and restaurants at the ground floor with offices and other uses above.
The extent of the application site is shown on the aerial plan below:
