Council tax energy rebate payment
Applications for the mandatory council tax energy rebate scheme have now closed and we are starting to pay the eligible households in our discretionary scheme below.
Council tax discretionary energy rebate scheme
The discretionary scheme will make an award to households who fall into the categories below:
- £100 rebate payment, to all those in property Bands E-H who are also in receipt of Council Tax Support (CTS) from 1 April 2022
- £100 top up payment for those residents in receipt of Council Tax Support in Bands A-D
- £100 rebate payment to residents awarded Council Tax Support from 2 April 2022
- £150 rebate payment to Care Leavers who are in Bands E-H and not on Council Tax Support
- £100 rebate payment to Care Leavers who are in Bands A-D and not on CTS
- £150 rebate payment to residents who are exempt due to Severe Mental Impairment in Bands E-H
- £150 rebate payment to residents who are disregarded due to Severe Mental Impairment in Bands A-D
- £100 top up to residents who are exempt due to Severe Mental Impairment in Bands A-D
- £150 rebate payment to residents who have a carers disregard in Bands A-H
The discretionary energy rebate scheme for Bands E-H has now closed. For people who have applied, all payments or credits will be made by the 30 November 2022.
The discretionary energy rebate scheme for Bands is underway for Bands A-D who are receiving Council Tax Support (CTS) from 1 April 2022. You do not need to apply for this top-up payment as it will be credited to your council tax account automatically or to your bank account if you pay by direct debit.
Please do not call us asking if your bank account has been credited. Updates on the discretionary energy rebate scheme will be posted here.

Update on mandatory council tax energy rebate
All mandatory council tax energy rebates have now been processed and if you were eligible, £150 will have been credited to your council tax account.
What is the council tax energy rebate payment?
The rebate payments are part of a government package to help with rising energy bills. You do not need to pay this back.
Payments of £150 have already been made to all eligible direct debit accounts.

Please do not give your bank details to anyone over the phone for the rebate scheme saying they are calling from Hammersmith & Fulham Council. We will not be contacting you by phone to request your bank details. If you are unable to engage with us digitally, we will be putting a system in place for you to contact us directly.
