Summer events for children and young people in H&F

Summer’s here, and everyone’s looking for ways to keep young people active and entertained.

See the full event and activity listings

While the coronavirus has forced the postponement of some of July and August’s regular holiday activities, there are still plenty of options to choose from.

You could explore the rings of Saturn, design your own T-shirt, learn to play jazz, polish your basketball skills with the help of expert coaches or get tips on how to become a songwriter. You could become a masterchef, learn Arabic singing, take up kayaking, enjoy samba drumming or create a time capsule for future generations to discover.

“Let Me Play are running over 20 different camps this summer and working with lots of young people who are in need of some activity,” said Amy Lalla, co-founder and director of Brook Green youth activities provider, Let Me Play.

“We are delighted to be working with two primary schools and four secondary schools. We have lots of fun activities planned, and we also have free open access sports coaching happening via Zoom – www.letmeplay.co.uk/giveback. Hope to see some of you this summer.”

All this year’s activities will observe social distancing guidelines, and many are being delivered virtually, so participant numbers may be restricted.

But there’s no excuse to just sit around in the next few weeks! Get active, have some fun and learn skills that may never have crossed your radar before. Best of all, everything’s free.

Event highlights

There’s a four-week summer programme of activities for 11 to 19-year-olds organised by the Urban Partnership Group at the Masbro Centre, W14, where the options range from bike-riding adventures to cookery, team sports to T-shirt design.
