Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

Services for 0-25 year olds with special educational needs or disabilities.

We have been listening to feedback and working hard on creating a new website intended to offer clearer, more comprehensive and accessible information for children and young people with SEND and their families.

SEND local offer website

We are keen to hear your feedback on this new site to further develop our local offer.

The new site features:

  • searches to help you find the services most relevant to your family’s needs
  • shortlists so you can keep a record of your frequently used services
  • a postcode search to find the services closest to home

If you are a provider who would like to be included in the local offer, you can now add the details of your service.

We are continually improving this new local offer site, so if you have any comments about the design or the content, please contact us at localoffer@rbkc.gov.uk

Disability and education

Not all children who are defined as disabled will have Special Educational Needs (SEN). The Disability Equality Duty sets out a general duty to promote disability equality, and a specific duty, which applies to schools, and includes a requirement to publish a Disability Equality Scheme.

Schools will be making a wide range of reasonable adjustments for individual disabled pupils, as well as in their practices, procedures and policies, but may also need extra support from us in particular circumstances such as with very specialised equipment

Some children with disabilities are supported by the SEN framework in schools. For support outside schools, the disabled children’s team can provide information.
