We thank you for your understanding at this difficult time. Our telephone lines are extremely busy so please direct all enquiries to our dedicated email addresses:
Births - If your baby was born in the last 42 days you can now book an appointment online, see How to register a birth. If you already have an appointment you will not be able to book another appointment online. If you need to re-schedule an appointment or if your baby was born more than 42 days ago then please email email@example.com
Marriage and civil partnership ceremonies
Marriage and civil partnership ceremonies - From Sunday 20 December marriages and civil partnership ceremonies will have to be postponed due to London being placed in Tier 4 by the government. All couples who have a ceremony booked within the next month will be contacted to re-schedule their ceremony. Please be prepared for further ceremonies to be cancelled, pending government guidance. If you have any enquiries please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Citizenship ceremonies - Due to capacity restrictions and social distancing conditions, no guests will be allowed to attend a group citizenship ceremony.
You also have the option for a private citizenship ceremony. Please note that we can only book your ceremony once we have received your certificate of naturalisation from the Home Office, you will need to wait until you receive an invitation letter from the Home Office. Please email your enquiry to email@example.com
Customers would normally be expected to book their citizenship ceremony within three months of being sent an invitation from the Home Office. Due to the current pandemic circumstances UKVI have extended this period to six months and will keep this under constant review. Customers should be advised that no adverse decisions will be made on applications because of delays caused by coronavirus.
Face coverings are required during your ceremony - This update applies to both private and group citizenship ceremonies. Face coverings ensure the safety of everyone and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
You can now order certificates online with us or online through the General Register Office for England and Wales (GRO).
We no longer offer a collection service or ‘Order in person’ option as the register office is open for pre-booked appointments only. Please do not attend the register office to try to order and or collect certificates.
Deaths and still-births
Deaths and still-births - We’re currently only offering telephone appointments for death and stillbirth registrations. Please do not attend the register office. You can still book an appointment online but instead we will call you at your appointment start time. The doctor or hospital will need to send us the medical cause of death certificate electronically to enable us to arrange the telephone registration.
We thank you for your understanding at this difficult time. Our telephone lines are extremely busy so please email your enquiry to firstname.lastname@example.org
Notices of intention to marry or form a civil partnership
As ceremonies are now only taking place in exceptional circumstances following the latest government guidance, we are prioritising notice appointments for couples with a confirmed ceremony booking or where a notice needs to be given due to exceptional circumstances. Supporting evidence may be required in these circumstances.
In order to book a notice appointment please email your request along with your ceremony booking confirmation email and or supporting evidence to email@example.com
EUSS- EU Settlement Scheme ID verification
EUSS- EU Settlement Scheme ID verification - In response to the coronavirus pandemic and in the interests of protecting all users of council services, we are no longer able to offer the EUSS ID verification walk-in service.
Remember you can still verify your documents yourself. All you’ll need is a compatible Android phone, iPhone or tablet. This can be your own phone or tablet, or someone else’s.
