The young stars of Sir John Lillie primary school have thrown down the gauntlet to every other team involved in the borough’s football tournament.

Avonmore were the unlucky Mayor’s Cup opponents last Friday as the boys triumphed 6-0... and the girls simultaneously achieved the same scoreline on the next-door pitch in Hurlingham Park!

Elsewhere Langford boys managed a 3-0 win over Normand Croft, while Holy Cross eased past Queen’s Manor 1-0.

The action is starting to hot up, with a series of key games in the coming days.

The reigning boys’ champions, Brackenbury Primary School, face Old Oak on Friday (9 October) in the pick of the matches.

Old Oak were defeated 1-0 by Lena Gardens last week, and are looking to bounce back.

But there will also be tough tests for Wendell Park, who play Greenside, and Larmenier who play Fulham primary. Good Shepherd face Addison, Melcome play Thomas’s and All Saints play St Paul’s.

Elsewhere John Betts and Pope John primaries clash, while Ark Swift play Miles Coverdale. Pope John recently beat St Mary 2-1, and edged their game against Miles Coverdale with a narrow 1-0 win in Ravenscourt Park.

In the girls’ side of the draw, the fixtures this coming weekend mirror the boys’.

Pope John girls beat Miles Coverdale 2-0, while Lena Gardens scored a 1-0 win over Old Oak last week.

Elsewhere, Addison girls achieved a 2-0 victory over Ark Swift, Wormholt Park beat St Stephen’s 1-0, Wendell Park girls beat Kenmont 1-0 and Brackenbury managed a 2-0 win over St Peter’s.
