No firework displays in H&F this year

Hammersmith & Fulham Council will not hold a firework display in Ravenscourt Park or Bishops Park this year.

However, we hope to be back next year with a fantastic new laser light display. This will not only be less disruptive to neighbours it will also be more environmentally friendly.

We thank you for your patience while we develop this major new event.

If you do plan to celebrate with fireworks this Bonfire Night, please do so safely and courteously to your neighbours.

The London Fire Brigade has suggested alternative ways to celebrate at home, with ideas including making your own Guy Fawkes and bonfire crafts, decorating the home, purchasing glow sticks for children and baking bonfire goodies.

Safety tips

Read the London Fire Brigade's bonfires, sparklers and fireworks safety tips (london-fire.gov.uk)

The Child Accident Prevention Trust have also published some helpful safety tips.

Supervision

Children need careful supervision. Have a marker, like a rope, for the children to stand behind at a safe distance from the display.

Dressing up

If children are dressing up, make sure the costumes have a CE mark and keep them away from flames, sparklers and fireworks.

Sparklers

If sparklers are used, wear gloves and have a bucket of water handy for spent sparklers, so no-one is tempted to pick up a used one.

Storing and lighting fireworks

  • Store fireworks in a metal box until you are ready to use them.
  • Use a torch – rather than a naked flame – to read the instructions.
  • Light a firework at arm’s length with a taper or firework lighter.
  • Don’t return to a firework once it has been lit.
