Idris Nuristani, owner of Fulham Quality Fish and Ocean Catch on North End Road
Shoppers continue to enjoy the top-quality fresh fish at bargain prices on offer from the fishmongers in North End Road.
For the past 11 years, this has included Idris Nuristani, the owner of Fulham Quality Fish at 361 North End Road (near the Sedlescombe Road junction) and Ocean Catch at 407 North End Road, closer to Fulham Broadway.
Both shops are known for their remarkable deals, including seven plump fresh sea bass fillets for £10, not to mention six sea bream, also for a tenner.
The seafood in stock ranges from shellfish including lobster and brown crab and clams.
Prices can be affected by the weather, and therefore how easy it is for the fishing boats to get out.
Idris and his staff are always happy to offer cooking advice, but for Idris himself, one method is king. “Grill!” he shouted. “Always grill! Also have a look on YouTube – there are some very good tips for cooking fish.”
You can also get your hands on fresh Scottish salmon, line-caught tuna, mackerel, mullet, red snapper, sea bass, mussels and sea-caught tiger prawns.
But the produce changes daily, depending on what’s in the market. The best bet is always to go along and see what takes your fancy.
