Hammersmith & Fulham Council partnered with the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Frazzled Cafe to mark International Women's Day 2021.

Yesterday (8 March) we invited residents, staff and partners to join us for a special chat with activist, comedian and mental health advocate, Ruby Wax, and Rachel O'Riordan, Artistic Director of the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.

The event started with a welcome from Cllr Sue Fennimore, Deputy Leader of H&F Council, followed by Rachel and Ruby talking on a variety of topics, including this year's theme of #ChooseToChallenge. Attendees were invited to take part in a question and answer event after the interview.

#ChooseToChallenge

This year's International Women's Day theme was 'Choose to Challenge' – encouraging everyone to challenge gender bias and inequality.

Cllr Sue Fennimore, Deputy Leader of H&F Council, said: "I was delighted to welcome Ruby Wax to our International Women's Day celebration. It was another great chance to reaffirm our commitment to gender equality and acknowledge the huge social, economic and cultural impacts that women make every day."
