Primary schools and churches will be quids in from sales of Christmas trees in borough parks organised by Hammersmith garden design company, Shoots and Leaves.
The Trussley Road firm, which has been supplying trees for over 20 years, is donating £5 to nominated schools and churches for each one sold.
The local sale sites in H&F are: Eel Brook Common, Fulham (near The Miski Lebanese restaurant); Little Brook Green, Hammersmith (near Tesco) and at St Paul’s Church, Queen Caroline Street, W6.
As well as freshly cut and side-pruned non-drop Nordmann Fir Christmas trees, plain and decorated wreaths, bundles of spruce, holly, tree lights, barrels and stands are all available.
“We offer a competitive delivery service – usually on the same day – and we are the only local supplier operating in the borough all year round,” says Hew Stevenson, who founded Shoots and Leaves. “The trees are hand-picked, we walk around the fields and tag the best ones!”
“We employ a large number of people who live in H&F and we are proud of our local links and the fact that we give something back to the community.”
Primary schools benefiting including Addison, St Stephens, Sir John Betts and Brackenbury.
Where to find them
Both the Eel Brook Common and Little Brook Green sites are rented from Hammersmith & Fulham Council, with the revenue earned being used to maintain local parks.
Shoots and Leaves is also at Acton Park (Uxbridge Road side); and Cleveland Park in Ealing.
Each year Hew ships in and sells more than 5,000 trees. You can also buy trees and accessories online.
