Hollywood may be regarded as the home of the silver screen, but did you know Hammersmith & Fulham is a regular hot-spot for movie-makers?
More and more films and television shows are being filmed in our borough, where location scouts are drawn to the mix of historic and modern architecture and beautiful parks.
In the past couple of years, Hollywood stars including Daniel Craig, Richard Gere, Rami Malek, Mark Strong and David Tennant have all filmed scenes in H&F.
“H&F residents might often find themselves spotting a familiar building or street on their telly, or on the big screen,” said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for the Economy.
“Modern architecture sits shoulder to shoulder with historic buildings. Combine that with our stunning parks and it’s no wonder Hollywood choses our borough as its home in west London.
“We’re proud of the borough’s rich heritage on film and welcome anyone who wants to film here and showcase the great locations we have to offer.”
Home of drama
Current Sky One drama series Temple, starring Mark Strong was filmed around Lower Mall in Hammersmith last year. While recent BBC One show MotherFatherSon starring Richard Gere and Helen McCrory had scenes filmed in Margravine Gardens.
A recent episode of Silent Witness was filmed on Wormwood Scrubs and Hard Sun, starring Jim Sturgess and Agnes Deyne was filmed on Shepherds Bush Green.
And it would be hard to have missed that scenes from the next James Bond film, No Time to Die (then dubbed Bond 25) were shot this July outside the Rutland Arms pub in Lower Mall, Hammersmith, with Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes and Rory Kinnear on set.
The same location was also used for a scene for Bohemian Rhapsody, last year’s critically acclaimed biopic of rock band Queen.
Keep your eyes peeled and you’re likely to spot other familiar locations, such as Hammersmith Town Hall, Fulham Town Hall, The Ark, Blythe House, Fulham Palace, Macbeth Street, Goldhawk Road and Ashcroft Square.
