Are you a woman who lives or works in H&F? Do you want to help drive forward the cause of true equality for all women in society? If you answered ‘yes’ to both questions, then we want to hear from you...

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is seeking commissioners to join its ground-breaking independent Women’s Equality Commission, which will look into female empowerment and improving the route to equality for all women, borough-wide.

If you have a strong drive for women’s equality, and can commit to attend two-hourly meetings once a month, in venues around the borough, for a period of some 10 months – then we want to hear from you.

Sian Alexander, Executive Director of the Lyric Hammersmith theatre, was announced as chair of the commission at an event held on International Women’s Day this year.

Sian said: “This new commission has huge potential to influence lives and promote equality in the borough. But we can’t do it without the input of local women, with the passion and ideas to help make change a reality.”

If you are interested in getting involved in the work of the Women’s Equality Commission, H&F Council wants to hear from you. To ensure the commission is as inclusive as possible, we particularly want to encourage women from diverse backgrounds to get in touch.

If you are a woman who lives or works in Hammersmith & Fulham and would like to be considered as a commissioner then please write to setting out some details of your areas of expertise, your experience and why you want to be on the commission.

Any expressions of interest in becoming a commissioner are to be received by 1 September.

The commission is expected to complete its work and publish its findings and recommendations for action by summer 2020.
