Hundreds of free events on offer this summer for young people and kids

Summer in the City (26 July to 27 August) is full of exciting activities for children and young people over the holidays.

Summer in the City runs from 26 July to 27 August and is full of exciting and enriching activities for children and young people over the holidays.

We’re working with local youth activity provider LMP Action and the Holiday Activity and Food Programme to offer a summer of food and fun activities and events for children and young people.

We have more than 25 different providers delivering across H&F and we’ve got something for everyone! Sport, music, arts and crafts, drama, dance and family fun for four to 18-year-olds – or up to 25 for those with additional needs.

The most important thing, this summer, is that every event is FREE.

This year, we are ensuring that families can have access to a regular source of free nutritious meals over the summer holidays, whether at a local club or event and /or join an array of community activities.

Summer in the City is also about enrichment, learning and wellbeing. We think of it as a ‘big learning tent’ and wherever you go will be warm, welcoming and offer a range of unique and exciting opportunities for children and young people.

We hope this digital guide will help families and young people to access new exciting opportunities, get involved, be part of their community and have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Importantly, all activities are FREE and will be providing great food as part of the provision, ensuring that families can access free nutritious meals over the summer holidays.

Supporting local children in need

For many children a Free School Meal will be the only significant meal they receive, therefore holiday hunger puts a number of children at risk. We have again worked with our schools to provide vouchers to families of vulnerable children over the summer holidays, supporting over 5,000 families with the cost of food.

Over 600 of our vulnerable families will also receive free breakfast deliveries as part of our primary school breakfast offer.

Support for local organisations

Hammersmith & Fulham is also continuing to support local community organisations that have been at the forefront of supporting residents during the pandemic.

Delivered in partnership with UNITED in Hammersmith and Fulham, Our Winter and Spring wellbeing grants has already supported over 30 local organisations working to support residents with food and other essentials.

The next round of this funding has now launched on the UNITED website
