The competition to be crowned one of Hammersmith’s best lunch spots – I Love Lunch – is back!

At steak – sorry, stake – are gongs for the finest cafes, takeaways, restaurants and pubs in one of the foodiest parts of London, with public votes deciding the winners.

The annual culinary competition, now in its eighth year, is organised by Hammersmith BID, the not-for-profit firm working to make the town centre the best place to live, work and visit.

You can vote online every day until May 25 for your favourite lunchtime destination, with the winners receiving trophies and certificates in June.

Who’s who?

Last year, 38 businesses entered the four categories: Best Pub, Best Restaurant, Best Café and Best On-the-Go, with more than 4,000 votes cast.

This year a record-breaking 44 eateries are taking part, including newcomers Abokado, Chez Maiss, Crosstown Doughnuts, Jon Smith Subs, Pure, Taco Bell, Simya Korean and The Cellar at Kindred.

The 2019 pub competitors are: Latymers, The Draft House, The Hammersmith Ram, The Dartmouth Castle, The Hop Poles, The Plough and Harrow, The Salutation, The Stonemasons Arms and The William Morris.

Restaurant entrants: Bill's, Byron, Chez Maiss, Eat Tokyo, Lyric Bar and Grill, Simya Korean, The Cellar at Kindred, Toro Gordo, Villagio, Wagamama and Wingwing.

Café contenders: Alma Café, Antipode, Atrium Café (St Paul's Church), Bake Haus, Coffee Station, Dragon Cat Café, La Petite Bretagne, Lyric Café and Pret A Manger (Broadway Centre).

On-the-go shortlist: Abokado, Baba G Lebanese Grill, Barburrito, Ben's Cookies, Blanche Eatery, Coco di Mama, Crosstown Doughnuts, Jon Smith Subs, Leon, PAUL, Pod, Pure, Sprigs Vietnamese, Taco Bell and Tortilla.

Special deals during the fortnight of voting, using the I Love Lunch privilege card, include15 per cent off at Leon and Pod, and half-price burgers at The Draft House.

This year there is also a prize draw for a free lunch at the eatery of your choice, with entries via HammersmithBID on Instagram or HammersmithBID on Twitter.
