Full training will be given, and an annual allowance of £504 can be claimed. Applications close at 5pm on Thursday 11 April, with interviews in the week beginning Monday 15 April.

Successful applicants will help oversee councillors’ good conduct, look into any alleged breaches of the code of conduct and advise on specific statutory officer dismissals.

The job specification looks for good communicators who are inquisitive but open-minded, don’t rush to judgement, have experience of resolving disputes and are interested in local affairs.

You will also need to have an understanding of the pressures and demands of serving a local authority, experience of assessing information and reaching conclusions based on evidence.
