We’re investing in a community-led redesign of North End Road in Fulham – and we’d love to know what you think.
Since 2014, we’ve been working hard with businesses, traders and residents to improve North End Road as a thriving retail and food destination.
And now we’re ready to move to the next stage, thanks to new funding – including £1 million we've negotiated from property developers.
“We want to do things with residents and businesses, not to them,” said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for the Economy and the Arts. “This is why we’re asking local people and businesses to share their ideas and suggestions on how we can improve North End Road to live and work in and visit – all part of our plan to make H&F the best place to live, work and play in Europe.”
Please tell us what you think by completing our online survey:
Survey closes on Friday 22 February
Come and give us your views directly
We’ve already been talking to shopkeepers, market traders, community representatives and local community groups. Based on what they’ve told us, we’re putting together an initial wish list of possible future improvements. Some of these will be small and quick, others will be long-term projects which need more investment.
All residents are invited to view and give their opinions on the wish list on 8 February (from 2pm to 6pm) and 9 February (from 10am to 2pm) at St John’s Church, North End Road, Fulham.
Based on the responses to this and the online questionnaire, we’ll come up with a plan for the way forward, which will involve further consultation.
The future of North End Road
We aim to:
- Create a thriving, sustainable and welcoming high street
- Make improvements to one of the borough's favourite markets
- Encourage more people to visit and spend money in North End Road
- Do things with residents and businesses – not to them.
An initial £1 million of funding has been identified and we have applied for additional funding from the Mayor of London’s Liveable Neighbourhoods Fund.
What we have done so far
We’ve been talking to shopkeepers, market traders, community representatives and local community groups.
We’ve commissioned a transport study and an area assessment which will help us develop plans for the future of the road.
This work will help us bid for additional funding for highway improvements and public spaces.
Since 2014, H&F Council has been working with businesses, traders and residents in the North End Road Action Group (NERAG) to boost North End Road and its 131-year-old market as a thriving shopping destination. It has:
- Launched popular traffic-free markets
- Attracted new regular traders and shoppers to the road
- Helped more businesses to move to the high street
- Reduced the number of vacant shops on street
- Made it easier and cheaper for new traders to join the market with its Trade for a Tenner scheme.
