Hammersmith & Fulham Council is returning its housing repairs service to council control, bringing to an end its contract with the current repairs provider Mitie.
“We’ve listened to what tenants and leaseholders have told us about the repairs service,” says Cllr Lisa Homan, Cabinet Member for Housing. “That’s why we will now take back direct control of the repair and maintenance for our 17,000 homes.
“We are determined to provide a safe and secure place to live for our tenants and leaseholders. This decision is the start of a new way to deliver for our residents.”
The council will now set up a new council-run repairs service, a direct labour organisation, which will work alongside a range of new contractors to deliver repairs.
Mitie will continue to deliver the repairs service in the next six months. During that time, the council will work closely with the contractor to make sure tenants and leaseholders receive the best possible service.
All reported repairs will go ahead as planned and there should be no disruption to service.
For now, tenants and leaseholders should continue to report repairs online at: www.lbhf.gov.uk/reportingrepairs or to Mitie on 0800 023 4499 (free from landlines) or 020 7205 0400 (from mobiles). We’ll let you know when this changes.
Help us design a new service
H&F is now asking tenants and leaseholders to help design our new repairs service and to make sure it works in a way that’s best for them.
“The people who use the service are the ones who know best what needs to be done to improve it,” Cllr Homan added. “We’re here to listen. We want to work with tenants and leaseholders to make our repairs service better.”
