It’s just the third year of GCSE results for Hammersmith Academy, and yet again there were impressive gains when it came to top grades.
Headteacher Gary Kynaston said he was delighted with the results.
Grades are awarded from nine to one. With nine, eight and seven ranging from what would have been A* to A in the old system, and four being similar to a C.
“These results show that the academy is transitioning very well into the new style nine to one GCSE grading,” said Mr Kynaston.
“Our students are yet again achieving above national expectations and this reflects their professional attitude towards their studies and their willingness to succeed.
“The staff and parents deserve recognition in their endless support of the students. I would like to congratulate our GCSE students and look forward to welcoming them into our Sixth Form.”
Seventy-five per cent of pupils at the Cathnor Road, Shepherds Bush, school achieved the benchmark grades - the equivalent of five GCSEs graded A* to C.
More than 90 per cent got a grade nine to four in English, and more than 70 per cent got a nine to four in maths.
Mohamed Mohamed scored an impressive six grade nines and an A* grade in economics, marked in the old grading system.
He said: “I feel I have achieved something. To be able to make your parents proud is an amazing feeling!
“When I started at the academy I didn’t have any aspirations, they have given me a platform to dream. I’m looking forward to starting the sixth form at Hammersmith Academy.”
