New bike hire scheme coming to H&F this summer

A new, dockless bike hire scheme is set to wheel into Hammersmith & Fulham this summer.

H&F Council has negotiated with ofo to minimise any issues with bikes causing obstructions, or being dumped, following concerns raised when similar schemes tried to launch in the borough last year.

“As part of our bid to become the greenest borough in the country we need to improve local air quality and reduce congestion by getting more people cycling,” said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Cabinet Member for Environment.

“So ofo’s service is a welcome addition to H&F. It’s easy to use and means fewer people will need to rely on cars, or public transport for their short journeys in and out of the borough.”

“Any dockless bike scheme needs to be the right one, delivered in the right way for our borough and we will be keeping a firm eye on ofo to make sure they keep our pavements and roads tidy,” added Cllr Harcourt.

ofo has successfully launched in several major UK cities, including Cambridge, Oxford, Sheffield, Norwich, Edinburgh and other parts of London.
