We’re planning a fantastic Christmas Day lunch at Hammersmith Town Hall for older residents who’d otherwise be on their own– but with just over three weeks to go, we still need to raise £9,000 to hit our funding target.
H&F Council’s Christmas Day lunch party will be for up to 350 local residents aged 60 or over who are not having lunch with anyone on Christmas day.
“We want to ensure that older residents can have a great Christmas”, says Cllr Ben Coleman, H&F Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care. “The council has put in £7,000 and local residents and businesses have been incredibly generous – but we still need to raise another £9,000 to hit our target.”
Many local residents have already given generous donations from £5 to £500. Donations from local businesses include £4,000 from John Parnham Funfairs, £300 from The Hurlingham Club and £100 from the Three Cheers Pub Co. And West Kensington charity IndependentAge has donated £5,000.
“H&F residents and businesses are known for their generosity and we hope more people will want to pitch in,” added Cllr Coleman. “However large or small, every donation will help us make the day an extra special one.”
John Parnham of John Parnham Funfairs said: “The Christmas Day lunch is a great event and I am delighted to be able to support it. Bringing older people together like this for a day of festive cheer is exactly what Christmas is all about.”

Every donation will help to provide free transport, a hearty Christmas lunch, entertainment and a Christmas present for older residents who’d otherwise be alone at this special time of year.
