It has transformed part of the Vue cinema into a go-to destination for videogaming after a multi-million pound investment in the borough.

“Gfinity joins our unique hub of high tech, digital and creative industries already in the borough as we aim to become a leading place for tech businesses,” said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration. “Videogaming as a spectator sport is a young and booming industry, and it’s exciting to see it being hosted within the borough. We want to make H&F the best place to do business in Europe.”

It forms part of the council’s new Industrial Strategy (pdf) and drive to make the borough a European beacon for innovation and growth.

Videogaming paradise

Less than a minute’s walk from Fulham Broadway Underground station, there are custom-built stages, spectator seating and VIP areas in the e-sports arena as well as giant screens and digital walls with cinema quality sound.

The Gfinity Elite Series is a professional e-sports competition where eight of the world’s best pro teams compete for £225,000 in prize money, and the finals are hosted in Fulham this weekend.
