There will be music performances across the traffic-free market with a jam-packed show on stage at Lyric Square that includes a cappella singers and carols from students at LAMDA.

While an impressive line-up of buskers will play throughout the day in King Street. The line-up includes the quirky musical fusions of Natasha Kirke, singer and guitarist Poppy Scarlett and even a Mariachi band - bringing the authentic sound of Mexico to W6.

“Come down and enjoy the first-ever traffic-free market in King Street with all the family on Saturday,” said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration.

“Our pedestrian-friendly markets have gained a London-wide reputation as we aim to make H&F the best place to work, live and prosper in Europe.”

The Hammersmith Christmas Market follows the success of the council’s pedestrian-friendly seasonal markets in North End Road which have revitalised the 130-year-old high street.

Tinsel time

There will be over 100 stalls filled with gifts, seasonal food and drink at the inaugural Hammersmith market, not to mention, free ice-skating sessions and a Jack and the Beanstalk-themed Treasure Hunt for the kids.

The synthetic rink will be open from 10am-5.30pm with half-hour sessions.

And there is even more with all-day entertainment that includes carol singing cats, naughty elves, Glitter Belles on stilts, Rudolph, Ice King and Queen, a seasonal photo booth, free Christmas wrapping and children’s workshops.

Sarah Mayer and Amy Caulfield of Music House for Children in Uxbridge Road cannot wait to unveil their stocking for babies and toddlers which includes a bell, egg shaker and a baby maraca at the new H&F market event.

“We are really looking forward to the Christmas market in King Street,” said Sarah. “It is going to be a lot of fun and great to see all the community come together.”

They will be selling instruments for all ages and abilities – crafted by their instrument maker in Bali – as well as books and lots of Christmassy gifts with a 10% discount on the day.

Sarah and Amy will also be raising money for a new carpet at the Shepherds Bush music school with a Christmas raffle and tickets for their annual Carols by Candlelight show on 3 December at Bush Hall.
