Students at Fulham Cross School celebrate their GCSE results
There were tears at Fulham Cross Girls’ School on GCSE results day.
Three teachers simultaneously burst into tears of joy as 16-year-old Xii Lim punched the air after reading her results – the highest ever achieved by a student here.
Xii scooped a whopping 7 A*s and three grade 9s. ‘Hugely deserved’, said the onlooking teachers.
“I feel very well, very good, I honestly felt like I wasn’t expecting this,” she said.
“I thought 9s were for geniuses, and I got three of them.”
She will now head to The Godolphin and Latymer School to study an international baccalaureate in maths, chemistry, biology, geography, Italian and English literature - with a view to an eventual career in dentistry.
Thirty-two per cent of students’ grades at the Munster Road school were awarded at A* or A: the school’s highest ever percentage of top grades.
Other successes included Iman Mazni, 16, who gained an A*, four As, two Bs, a 7 in English language and a 6 in English literature.
She’s off to the Lady Margaret School in Parsons Green to study biology, chemistry and maths.
“Doing all those subjects when I was revising was very stressful, especially when you had more than one exam in one day, but the teachers have all been very supportive,” said Iman.
Also pursuing a career in dentistry is Ithar Derdour, from Fulham. The 16-year-old gained no fewer than six A*s, an A, along with an 8 for maths and English literature and a 7 for English language.
“I was really nervous, but now I feel great, the hard work has paid off,” she said.
She’s scooped a scholarship at Putney High School to study biology, chemistry and maths.
Delighted Shan Hama, 16, aims to study neuroscience at university after getting three 9s, three A*s and three As.
“I’m feeling so shocked because I kept envisaging this moment, but never saw myself getting these results,” she said.
She’s also heading to Putney High School to study biology, chemistry and maths.
Head of School Denise Fox said of her students’ achievements: “Once again the staff and students have worked exceptionally hard to achieve the results that will take our girls on to some of the best academic sixth form providers in the country.
