British tennis star, Laura Robson, dropped into Normand Park this week to inspire young players to achieve their sporting dreams.

Organised by Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Laura’s sponsors, Nike, the event aimed to capitalise on growing tennis interest following Wimbledon.

The talented player took to the Fulham park’s recently-refurbished courts, where she shared advice, and rallies, with the enthralled youngsters.

At the event on Monday (17 July) Laura surprised young players taking part in a day camp, before taking part in a Q&A where she was asked how she got into the sport and how young players can improve.

Following the chat, Laura then hit a ball with each of the young players and showed them her favourite training drills to inspire them to continue playing.

The visit forms part of a drive by the LTA to increase uptake of tennis in Hammersmith & Fulham, with plans to make improvements to other courts in the borough too, so more residents have access to high-quality facilities.

H&F Council will also be working closely with the LTA to increase opportunities for children to play and enjoy tennis.
