SUMMER IN THE CITY: It’s free, it’s fun so why not come along?

Summer in the City is in full swing and there are hundreds of free events to enjoy throughout the school holidays.

They include is basketball skills for 11 to 19-year-olds. All abilities are welcome whether you always get a three-pointer or have never dribbled a ball before.

It’s a mix of learning the skills in the morning followed by the chance to put them in action at matches in the afternoon.

“Why not come along,” said Tarryn, a coach at Let Me Play in West Kensington, which provides sports, education and other activities for young people throughout H&F.

“You’ll be able to make new friends, get fit and have lots of fun.”

The sessions have been running at Hurlingham Academy but now, after a short break, they’ll be coming to South Park in Fulham on 7 August and later at Ravenscourt Park in Hammersmith.

Street dance classes

Street dance has also proved to be a hit with local youngsters. Classes are running every Monday at Burlington Danes Academy in Shepherds Bush. Everyone aged 11 to 19 are welcome.

You can find out about both events, and everything else in the Summer in the City programme, by visiting our website, emailing or calling 020 3475 7511.

More free fun in Fulham

A variety of activities for 11 to 16-year-olds are being run by St Albans Church in Fulham, including circus skills, drama, skateboarding, kayaking and outdoor laser tag.

They’ll be taking place on a variety of dates in August. If you go to two activities or more you’ll be entered into a prize draw for £25 of cinema vouchers.
