Children at St Peter’s School
Inspectors have heaped praise on another Hammersmith & Fulham school, giving it top marks in everything it does.
St Peter’s Primary School in St Peter’s Road was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, building on its success in its last inspection when it was described as ‘good’.
“Congratulations to everyone at St Peter’s,” said Councillor Sue Macmillan, H&F Cabinet Member for Children and Young People.
“It’s a fantastic school and I’m delighted inspectors have recognised the difference it makes to families’ lives.”
The good news comes after another Hammersmith primary, Flora Gardens in Dalling Road, impressed inspectors who praised staff for transforming the once struggling school.
Inspectors described St Peter’s as ‘inspiring excellence’ in all its pupils who make strong progress in all subjects and who are ‘exceptionally well prepared for secondary school’.
“I’m delighted,” said headteacher Karen Frazer, who joined the school in September 2015.
“It’s thanks to 18 months of hard work and commitment from the entire school team.”
As well as the academic achievement, she said she was particularly pleased with the praise for the school’s extra-curricular activities which include Mandarin and Karate.
Parents are big fans of St Peter’s, describing it as ‘brilliant’ and ‘amazing’. And pupils love it too, with one telling inspectors: “I am always disappointed when it’s breaktime because I don’t want my learning to stop.”
Inspectors said the pupils’ behaviour is ‘impeccable’, the most able pupils flourish and all, including those most disadvantaged, achieve well. They added that in the early years, pupils receive a ‘superb start to school’.
They added headteacher Karen Frazer provides ‘inspirational leadership’ and described governors as ‘instrumental in ensuring the school provides an excellent standard of education’.
