Restaurants from Fulham have joined the hundreds of residents rallying to support those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

A number of the people driven out of their homes by the terrible blaze on 14 June are now in emergency accommodation in H&F. Council staff are visiting them daily to ensure they are getting all the support they need – including hot food.

Ten food outlets in North End Road, Fulham are now accepting specially-made vouchers from H&F council in exchange for a hot meal.

“This is another example of the amazing generosity we’ve seen from residents and businesses across our borough for those affected by the fire,” said Cllr Ben Coleman, H&F’s Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care.

Immediately following the tragic event, H&F residents, businesses and the council were quick to offer help to all those affected.

Residents and council staff volunteered in droves to help collect and distribute donations and H&F Council offered support to Kensington and Chelsea Council.

Many dozens of H&F residents and council staff volunteered their time and worked shoulder to shoulder to get van loads of vital clothes, food and toiletries to those in need.

Local restaurants have been helping from the start – and are keen to do more.

“We have been doing our utmost within our means to support those people affected,” said Gursel Gurgur, owner of the Best Mangal restaurant, one of those signed up to the vouchers scheme.

“We sent food over in the first couple of days after the fire and when we heard about the vouchers we were very happy to help.

“The support locally has been overwhelming. It’s so good to see how everyone has pulled together and done their best to help.”
