The talent was certainly on show this week as 22 teams from 12 primary schools across the borough took part in a mini tennis competition at Bishops Park.

Youngsters from years 5 and 6 went head to head on Tuesday (16 May) in mixed teams with the prize for the winners being to represent H&F at the London Youth Games 2017.

“It was a beautiful day with some great tennis played and was hugely enjoyed by all,” said Calum Fairley, H&F primary school sports association organiser.

“They all gave it 100 per cent, putting their heart and soul into it and never giving up. Thanks to the staff and coaches from all the schools who helped, umpired and supported positively.

“All the children played superbly, following the spirit of the school games values, determination, honesty, passion, respect, self-belief and teamwork.”

Teams took part from All Saints, Flora Gardens, Holy Cross, John Betts, Miles Coverdale, Normand Croft, Sir John Lillie, St John XXIII, St John’s, St Peter’s, St Stephen’s, Queen’s Manor and Sullivan Primary Schools.

Winners and runners up all received medals. Children from years 3 and 4 also competed at Bishops Park on Thursday (18 May).

The London Youth Games finals will be held on 29 June at Redbridge Sports Centre.
