Are you aged 13-19 and relish the idea of getting a peek into the world of work, taking on a new challenge and even planning the future of the borough?
Then don’t miss the chance to apply for Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Takeover Day 2016 – and find yourself behind the scenes of your local authority.
Maybe you would like to shadow one of the council’s directors – attending meetings and giving your views on services – or perhaps helping the parks police to patrol the borough’s open spaces is up your street?
Or could you go incognito as a mystery shopper with the trading standards team, learn about waste and recycling, or help deliver programmes on healthy living with a professional nutritionist?
Why not find out what it’s like to work as a social worker, library assistant, or in the planning department?
There are more than 100 different opportunities up for grabs at the council’s Takeover Day on Friday 18 November.
“Youth Takeover Day is the perfect way for young people to build their confidence, have their say about the council and get an exciting taste of the career opportunities out there,” said Cllr Sue Macmillan, H&F Cabinet Member for Children and Education.
Now in its sixth year at H&F Council, the day-long event is an opportunity for youths – including disabled young people up to 25 – to take over an organisation and engage in the way it is run.
More than 44,000 youngsters across England took part in the annual Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Challenge last year, with around 120 in Hammersmith & Fulham.
The Children’s Commissioner for England, Anne Longfield, explained: “Takeover is fun puts young people in decision-making positions and encourages organisations and businesses to hear their views.
The event will finish with a celebration planned and hosted by young people, with the support of H&F Mayor, Cllr Mercy Umeh.
