Families affected by the recent tower block fire in Shepherds Bush attended Saturday’s QPR match at Loftus Road as special guests of the club.

The Hoops offered free tickets to those residents currently living in temporary accommodation following the fire, and worked with Hammersmith & Fulham Council to make the offer to families.

“This is an absolutely fantastic gesture from QPR and we are very grateful,” said Cllr Sue Fennimore, H&F Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion.

“We are delighted to work together with QPR and I hope it gives those residents affected by the fire something to enjoy following what has been an incredibly upsetting, turbulent and difficult time.

“The Shepherd’s Court residents affected by the fire have had a terrible time, with some of them still not able to return to their homes. So we wanted to show our support for them,” said Andy Evans, chief executive of the QPR in the Community Trust.

“Nothing is a substitute for going back home. But in the meantime, as a club with the local community at its heart, we are delighted to have them to Loftus Road.”
