Hammersmith flyover closed this weekend for repairs

Inspections revealed some defective waterproofing that needs urgent repair.

Transport for London has announced that Hammersmith flyover will be closed to westbound traffic this weekend for essential repair works.

TfL, which owns and maintains the road, hopes the works will be completed over one weekend, however it has provisionally also set aside the weekend of 19-22 August should any unexpected issues arise.

The work is required after some defective waterproofing was uncovered during a recent inspection by TfL staff.

TfL says the works will be carried out at no additional cost and will help keep the flyover safe for future years.

During the work the flyover will be closed to westbound traffic during the night, and a single westbound lane will be closed during the day. The carriageway will remain fully open to eastbound traffic throughout.

The planned closures are:

Weekend one

  • Overnight Friday 12 August 22:30 - Saturday 13 August 06:00: full westbound closure
  • Daytime Saturday 13 August 06:00 - 22:30: single westbound lane closure
  • Overnight Saturday 13 August 22:30 - Sunday 14 August 06:00: full westbound closure
  • Daytime Sunday 14 August 06:00 - 22:30: single westbound lane closure
  • Overnight Sunday 14 August 22:30 - Monday 15 August 05:00: full westbound closure

Weekend two (if required)

  • Overnight Friday 19 August 22:30 - Saturday 20 August 06:00: full westbound closure Daytime Saturday 20 August 06:00 - 22:30: single westbound lane closure
  • Overnight Saturday 20 August 22:30 - Sunday 21 August 06:00: full westbound closure
  • Daytime Sunday 21 August 06:00 - 22:30: single westbound lane closure
