Super Furry Animals

Psychedelic Welsh rockers Super Furry Animals are set to headline the debut Caught by the River Thames festival at Fulham Palace.

Set for Saturday 6 August and Sunday 7 August, the event sees the Welsh veterans pitch up on the same stage in Fulham that Nile Rodgers of CHIC and Beck rocked in July as part of the FOLD Festival.

Both events are produced by renowned local events company Robomagic Live, who have successfully transformed Fulham Palace into a live music destination for the first time. And Caught by the River Thames will be even more ambitious as it attempts to combine the natural beauty of the Thames-side property with the drama of a music festival.

Dreamed up by former Factory and Creation records worker, music promoter and Shepherds Bush resident Jeff Barrett the festival builds on his love of fishing as well as music – which is why you’ll see BBC Springwatch presenter Chris Packham on the varied bill!

“The festival brings together an inspirational gathering of bands and brewers, authors and artists, thinkers and drinkers,” Jeff said.

The part gig, part literary gathering and part nature symposium aims to bridge the previously ‘un-spanned gap between psychedelic high-summer rock’n’roll concert and Springwatch’.

“We have unearthed archival London audio-history and are offering poetry in the total serenity of the Palace’s Victorian chapel – while also playing host to jump-up party music from the four corners of the world,” Jeff added.

The line-up also includes Duluth, Minnesota-based quiet rockers Low, Norfolk-born folk artist Beth Orton, superb young American finger-picking guitarist Ryley Walker and Ethiopian jazz veteran Mulatu Astatke.
