Pikachu joins family fun in Ravenscourt Park on Wednesday

New ‘poké walk’ added to range of fun activities for H&F's annual Playday.

Is there a Pikachu hiding in the playground at Ravenscourt Park?

Next Wednesday (3 August) is the chance to find out when Hammersmith & Fulham Council includes a Pokémon Go ‘poké walk’ as part of the fun on offer for national Playday.

Among a host of play activities available to children from noon to 4pm, there is the chance to catch critters from Pokémon Go, the augmented-reality game which has become a global craze.

During the poké walk lures will be placed at the park’s ‘poké stops’ to increase the chance of catching a rare creature.

There will also be displays of double-dutch skipping by JumpLDN, urban olympics from the London Sport Trust and a wealth of stalls offering more opportunities for play.

“Playday is one of the best days of the year for children and their families,” said Cllr Sue Macmillan, H&F Cabinet Member for Children and Education.

“This year we’re capturing the buzz of Pokémon Go with our fun poké walk. We urge everyone to come down on the day and enjoy the free rides, activities and games.”

The council has once again teamed up John Parnham Funfairs who will be running a number of fairground rides for free, from 3pm.

There will also be stalls offering information on childcare, road safety, fitness and recycling. In addition, there will be steel pan music, and even basketball coaching.

Please don’t forget your hats, sun cream and water, along with an umbrella on the day to cater for the British summertime weather.

John Parnham Funfairs will also be operating a fairground at Ravenscourt Park until 7 August.
