Bush Hall, the acclaimed Shepherds Bush music venue, is calling on local residents to support this Saturday’s Bushstock music festival.

Now in its sixth year, the day-long musical odyssey combines some of the freshest new faces with some talented veterans to create one of the most unique festivals in London.

More than 30 bands will tackle the Bush on Saturday, playing six venues and delighting thousands of fans. And heavily involved again this year is the award-winning Uxbridge Road venue, Bush Hall.

“We love Bushstock. It’s definitely one of the hottest dates of our calendar,” says Sophie Asquith, music and events manager at the W12 venue.

“The line-up is thoughtfully curated. And it’s been responsible for launching some amazing artists before they break out – including Gengahr, Jack Garrett, Bastille and Marika Hackman who have all played in recent years.”

Who is Bushstock?

The festival is brought to the Bush by the folks behind the Communion Records label and promoters Communion Presents, namely Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons, Kev Jones of Bear’s Den and producer Ian Grimble.

“Communion put on fantastic shows at Bush Hall all year round, but Bushstock really is something special,” says Sophie.

This year’s festival features gigs at The Defector’s Weld, Sindercombe Social, St Stephen’s Church, Bush Hall and K West Hotel – with the Albertine wine bar hosting a secret show for the second year running.

The Communion story started in 2006 at the Notting Hill Arts Club and quickly flourished into a vibrant community of artists and fans. They now look after an impressive roster of artists including Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, Matthew and the Atlas, Daughter, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Half Moon Run, Tennis and more.

“And this year’s headlines could be some of the best,” adds Sophie. “Such as Shepherds Bush resident Shura – who is sure to be amazing [pictured above] – as well as Bear’s Den and Dan Croll. It’s brilliant! And we’re especially excited about Keir at 6pm on our stage and Pleasure Beach, who follow.”

If it wasn’t for Bushstock, when else could you relax in the intimate pews of St Stephen’s Church enjoying some top-drawer music while sipping a bottle of Belgian beer?

And Sophie laughs in agreement: “Bushstock has always had some big surprises up their sleeves. Last year’s secret set at the Albertine wine bar in Wood Lane from the Staves and Nick Mulvey was incredible.

“So I get down early to catch the openers and keep a sharp eye on each venue’s Twitter feeds for little surprises and news on where’s full and who is coming on next.”

Bush Hall is located at 310 Uxbridge Road, W12. Expect a BBQ on their terrace and new takeaway pizzas from their Bush Hall Dining Rooms next door during festival day. Visit: www.bushhallmusic.co.uk.
