Tenants and leaseholders invited to major H&F housing conference

H&F Council is inviting its tenants and leaseholders to attend a special conference on Saturday 18 June.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is inviting its tenants and leaseholders to attend a special conference to discuss housing issues that affect them.

Organised by residents, for residents – the ‘Our Homes Our Future’ conference will be held at the Novotel in Hammersmith Broadway on Saturday 18 June.

“This is great opportunity for council tenants to have their say on important issues that affect them, such as the future direction of council housing in the borough,” says Hammersmith resident Maxine Bayliss.

Cllr Lisa Homan, H&F Cabinet Member for Housing added: “Residents will be updated on the progress made to safeguard council housing in the future and give them more control over their homes.

“The conference serves as an important example of how tenants and the council can work together to achieve positive results and I encourage everyone to register for the event.”

The keynote speaker will be Pat Fordham MBE, chair of Phoenix Community Housing, who helped transfer Phoenix's stock from Lewisham Council to a Community Gateway housing association. Pat has been a community activist for nearly 25 years, starting as a member of her local tenants’ association.

The day-long event will also feature Q&A sessions, workshops and information stalls, while representatives from a range of council services will be on hand to answer tenants’ questions. Meanwhile, third sector organisations will offer advice on a variety of issues, including money matters, employment, crime prevention and community support services.

The event is sponsored by H&F Council partners Mitie, Pinnacle, Conway and Quadron.
