Garden squares set to bloom over June weekend

You may think you know everything about one of Hammersmith’s most influential graphic artists – but have you ever admired William Morris’ garden?

Now’s your chance to take a look at some of the flowers that could have influenced Morris’ colourful prints and fabric designs during the Open Garden Squares weekend.

This year the weekend of celebration to the borough’s greenest fingers runs 18-19 June and includes:

  • The William Morris Society, Hammersmith
  • All Saints Vicarage Garden, Fulham
  • John Betts House, Shepherds Bush
  • Ravenscourt Park Glasshouses, Hammersmith
  • The River Cafe, Hammersmith
  • Sycamore House, Hammersmith

Also on the list of open gardens in Hammersmith & Fulham on that June weekend are the Fulham Palace Meadows allotments, with 406 well-maintained plots (guided tours and teas, 11.30am-3.30pm).

Right next door, the Fulham Palace Gardens (11am-4pm) are also open.

The open squares event began in 1998. A £12 advance-purchase tickets entitles the holder to visit any of the 200 participating gardens over the weekend. Children under 12 go free.

Tickets and more details from www.opensquares.org.
